Netflix Drek Reviews!

Hello internet, and welcome to Netflix Drek Reviews!

I'm Annie, and I have taken it upon myself to go on this mission.  Netflix, of late, has been purchasing quite a lot of cheap, b-movie grade material.  I'm not saying there aren't good titles in there, but most of the "good" titles are pretty old stuff, that everyone's already seen.  I'm taking it upon myself to review these movies while they are available to stream.  I want this blog to be the place people come, to find enjoyable, less popular movies, which are available on Netflix.  I know exactly how it is to surf through the titles, and find nothing but a bunch of three-star stuff I've never heard of, and a bunch of movies I've seen half a dozen times since they came out.

I'm an illustrator, and I watch a lot of movies while I work, primarily through Netflix.  Since I'm going to be trying out all of these movies anyway, I think that I can help others make decisions about what to watch.  As most of us know, the actual reviews on Netflix mean nothing.  Something with a four star rating can actually be terrible, and be full of reviews that read something like "this r grate movie!!1", and something with a two star rating can be quite good.  Pretty much for the same reasons, that being, lots of the people reviewing it are idiots.  I feel like putting all of my own, personal reviews in one place will help people get to know me, and those who share my taste profile, or even part of my taste profile, can come to count on me for good reviews.

I have a number of personal characteristics that I think will make me a great reviewer.  I'm intelligent, but not a snobby intellectual.  I love things that are sophisticated, but I don't single them out.  I watch campy, fun movies, too.  I know how to enjoy all genres of movie, without being a jerk.  I have watched Brokeback Mountain, but I've also watched John Dies at the End.  They're both pretty good movies, for completely different reasons.  I never base my opinion of a movie on the consensus of others, and I make attempt to avoid preconceived notions.  Hype can ruin a movie just as badly as obscurity.

So there you have it.  Please enjoy my reviews.
